Outpatient Phlebotomy Services

Blood Drawing Locations

Ambulatory Services Building I (ASB I)
  • BIMA: 2nd floor, 8:00AM - 5:30PM, Monday through Friday.
  • OB/GYN: 3rd floor, 7:30AM - 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.
Ambulatory Services Building II (ASB II)
  • Main Phlebotomy Lab: 2nd floor, 8:00AM - 8:00PM, Monday, Tuesday & Thursday
    8:00AM - 6:00PM, Wednesday & Friday.
  • Rheumatology/Orthopedics: 1st floor, 8:30AM - 5:30PM, Monday through Friday.
The Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) Clinical Laboratory at 850 Boylston Street
  • ACC Lab: 7:30AM - 6:00PM, Monday through Friday.
Ambulatory patients are requested to register first at one of the registration areas before laboratory work may be precessed. Locations are:
  • Tower, main lobby.
  • ASB I, 2nd floor, BIMA and Employee Health Patients only.
  • ASB I, 3rd floor, OB/GYN patients only.
  • ASB II, 2nd floor, Main registration site.
  • ASB II 1st floor, Rheumatology.
A written request for lab work must accompany the patient. Any type of specimen submitted to the laboratories, which was obtained in the physician's office, also must have written orders, and the patient from whom the specimen was obtained must also be registered. The patient must have an up-to-date card when coming to the phlebotomy labs.

Phlebotomy services are provided after the Outpatient Phlebotomy Areas are closed for outpatient in need of emergency lab testing. During the following hours, the patient should report to Laboratory Control on the second floor the Amory Building:

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 8:00PM until midnight.
  • Wednesday & Friday: 6:00PM until midnight.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00AM until midnight.
The physician or practice may phone the order in to Lab Control at (617) 732-7415. The practice must provide the patient name, medical record number, date of birth, physician name, and tests to be ordered. Lab Control will contact Phlebotomy Services when the patient arrives.
