Outpatient Transfusion

Ambulatory patients requiring transfusion of any type of blod products can be transfused in the BWH Transfusion Service, located on the main pike in the mid-campus area. Transfusion should be scheduled ahead of time through extension 6941, and if possible a specimen for crossmatch sent to the Blood Bank in the 72 hours prior to transfusion. Transfusion requires a physician's written order, and the physician (or delegate) should be available during transfusion.
